Elizabethtown Community Hospital Begins $10M Expansion

The $10M expansion and improvement to the ECH's inpatient nursing unit will include larger rooms for patients, greater physical therapy space, a new kitchen, larger pharmacy and waiting areas, and improved nurse and physician work areas. The expansion will add 7,500 square feet to the facility.

It is pretty clear that the region's health care system is not stable.  The North Country Heath Systems Redesign Commission is expected to address these complex issues.

CVPH and ADK Health announce big losses

The success of the Adirondack Region Medical Home Pilot is driving people away from high cost hospital services (e.g. emergency rooms) and nursing homes.  The hope is that hospitals start more primary care clinics to serve new patients that come into the systems after the New York Health Insurance Exchange opens.

CVPH and Elizabethtown sign agreement with Fletcher Allen in Burlington

This agreement supports lots of sharing and maybe an eventual merger.  For example, new docs in-training at Fletcher Allen will have residency periods at CVPH in Plattsburgh at their new expanded primary care clinic.
