Adk Experience Wins Two REDC Grants
One grant, $600k, will support renovation of a new heritage attraction of painting, rustic furniture and so on. The second gratn $500k will upgrade the climate control system in its largest building.

Fort Ti Wins $2.45m Grant to Rebuild the Pavilion
The grant will rebuild and adapt the Pavilion at Fort Ticonderoga to new uses: visitor amenities, conference center capacity, new educational and exhibition space.

3 Museums Win Grants Totaling $405k
$20k goes to Historic Saranac Lake. $140k goes to the Adk Experience in Blue Mtn Lake. $245 goes to The Wild Center. The institute for Museum and Library Services gave the grants, it is a Federal agency.

Restored Masden House Opens in Newcomb
The old 9 bedroom called the Masden House is now open near Newcomb. It will operate as the Northern Forest Institute. It will be operated by SUNY ESF as a trining center.

Fort Ticonderoga Awarded $10k By Mars Chocolate North America
The grant awarded to Fort Ticonderoga by Mars Chocolate North America will fund research, a new exhibition, and a living history program on the role of chocolate in armies and cultures of Fort Ticonderoga in 1777.

Lakes to Locks Passage, Inc. Awarded $123,000 to Waterways of War Passageport Marketing Plan
The Passageport to NY Revolutionary War Marketing Plan will include a mobile app and promotion of Passageport travel on tv and radio. The REDC Grant will fund the project.

Eagle Island Purchased by Non-Profit Group of Former Girl Scouts
Eagle Island, a 29 acre historic Great Camp that still maintains many of the original historic designs will now be returned to its original use as a camp for girls in the Adirondacks since a non-profit of former Girl Scouts now owns the island. The group plans to restore plumbing, electricity in roofs of the buildings.

AARCH was awarded one of 13 Trustees Awards for organizational excellence from the National Trust for Historical Preservation. The award mentioned the Great Camp properties and other sites that AARCH helped preserve.

Fort Ticonderoga Wins $150K Grant for 18th Century Artillery Exhibit
Fort Ticonderoga officials say their collection of cannons and other 18th century artillery is the largest in North America. They will now be able to re-install cannons along the fort walls and restore some key artifacts for a new exhibit in 2016 thanks to a $150,000 grant from the federal institute of Museum and Library Services "Museums for America" program.

ADK Cultural Symposium Brings Together Arts & Culture Organizations
Over 100 arts and culture organizations from around the Adirondacks are expected to meet in Lake Placid for an Adirondack Cultural Symposium. The purpose will be to discuss how organizations can work together to increase attendance, utilize municipal services, and identify ways to cross-promote and cooperate.
"History Train" Event on Adirondack Scenic Railroad
The Adirondack Scenic Railroad will be offering the "History Train", a one-time, free event that will educate passengers during the ride on the history of the area as a "Crossroads of Commerce" and why it was such a desired place to live.

The only tour of its kind so far, the "Five Formidable Forts" tour will guide guests through a tour of archaeological sites of five military forts from 238 to 325 years ago.

The funds from the grant will be used for a formal educational study on the history of Fort Ticonderoga's Log House Welcome Center. It is believed to be one of the oldest continuously run road houses in the United States.
