Following the model of Mayor Bloomberg in NYC, various ADK Park governments adopt very data centric models of operations to reduce costs. Police patrols, for example, as deployed on the basis of data showing where problem areas are, not in broad brush patrols.

New Flood Plain Maps Due Soon

Previous maps only used distance from the water's edge, not elevation topography.  The new lidar maps are being done to establish new flood plains and insurance rates across the entire North Country.

New Spatial Map of Recreation Assets Posted on the Web

This new map examines what recreational assets (think trails, leantos, etc) exist within 10 miles of each hamlet. 

The user should be aware that this is based on hamlets, not towns.  Also, when hamlets are close to each other, the data double counts.  For example, trails in Keene and Keene Valley....
