Community Net Metering Renewable Energy Takes Off
Small scale community solar and community wind sites have sprung up around the Park. They are unobtrusive (e.g., wind turbines lower than 40 ft. high) and they feed into today's grid producing less than 1.5mw of power. They provide a way for consumers to buy renewable power without incurring the capital cost of a private installation at their home. The approach is also being used to provide consumer demand for small scale hydro restarts in the region where there are many old dams that used to be power generators years ago.
