Proposition 4 addressed a 100 year old land ownership fight between the State and private owners. Proposition 5 was a swap with a mining company allowing mining and later restoration of 200 acres in return for the addition of 1500 acres.

Two enviro groups file an Article 78 suit saying that many more regulations must be followed after the amendment vote before test boring can begin.  Protect the Adks! and Adk Wild filed the suit.  The Adk Council and the Adk Mtn Club did not.

Two Amendments Pass, Nov 2013

Township 40 land disputes were settled.  This amendment had no opposition.  The enabling legislation will be signed soon.

The mining land swap passed 53-47 but remains controversial.  The enabling legislation and legal issues remain open and quite possibly will be challenged. 

The Governor's office issued this statement.
