Highway “Branding” Efforts Stepped Up

After years of neglect, there is now renewed investment in distinctive signage, guardrails, informational stops, and rest areas within the Park. This cohesiveness makes it clear to visitors that they have crossed the Blue Line. Officials have come to an agreement with the US Dept of Transportation with respect to signage.

The Lake Champlain Blueway guide for recreational boating is now online.  It is the first of the boating guides to be online.

Years in the planning, the route connects Corinth in the south to Johnsburg/North Creek in the north. Here is the master plan they are implementing with this funding.

One Scenic Byway Turning to a Phone App

The "Lakes-to-Locks" scenic byway runs from Albany to Rouses Point.  It has developed from a paper map to a web site and, soon, a phone app.  There are numerous routes like this in the region to develop further.  A $153k REDC grant will fund the development

New Washington Cty Tourism Map Online

The map is intended to guide tourists to numerous small sites the county has to offer. The county includes the eastern shore of Lake George.

State Spends $12m to Rebuild Whiteface Mtn Highway

The project will rebuild the road and also the toll house, the castle on top and the elevator.

Scenic Byways, Bikeways and Blueways growing

The old scenic byway maps are being moved to the cloud and becoming smart phone apps. Some routes are scenic, others are about history, or farms and so on. Work on bike ways and also canoe routes (blue ways) is coming along as well.
