ADK Investment Forum Spurs New Business Start Ups

The ADK Investment Forum assists in getting businesses off the ground that are suited to the unique characteristics of the Park. It offers a forum twice a year for angel investors to listen to pitches from people who want to start new businesses in the Park. The Investment Forum assists in raising capital, guaranteeing loans and guiding new entrepreneurs. The Forum includes private investors, relevant State agencies, colleges and business groups.

The $18 grant will allow the new non-alcoholic beverage company to build a production space in a vacant Lake Placid building.  A tasting room is part of the design.

Wholeshare was one of the companies backed by the Point Positive angel investing group.  It was based in Potsdam NY.

$75k Will Support "Trail Town" Development Work

The 'Advantage Adirondacks' economic development project can up with the borad concept of trail towns, a bigger idea than hiking.  These funds will continue with implementation work.

New Economic Dev Report Released

The project was organized and run by AATV and the ADK Partnership.  It is follow up work to the ADK Futures Project aimed at implementation level tasking. The title is Advantage Adirondacks.

Point Positive Funds Two More Companies

Pro Cat will build catamaran work boats in Rouses Point on Lake Champlain.  Thermo Tents, an Irish company, will establish it's North American base in Saranac Lake.

Point Positive Funds Two Companies

The regions new angel group has now funded 2 companies.  One makes a bag inspired by the Adk Packbasket.  The other works on the problem of rural food distribution.

Clarkson Will be a Hub for $250k Startup Innovation Program

The region will include Saranac Lake, all SUNY and private college campuses in the region.

Together these are expected to attract venture funds to the region.

A group convened by ACT has spent a year on this topic

The groups, called ABC, hired two people to work up a detailed plan.  As of September 2013, the plan is to launch the effort as an angel investor group by year end or early 2014.
